We have been told that our spin classes are the most challenging there are in Edmonton and we challenge you to find a harder group of spin instructors than ours.

CrossFit Aurora spin is a fast paced, dynamic, sweat inducing full body intense workout.  A great way to get your groove on.

Spin is quickly becoming one of our most popular group fitness choices and is a great high intensity alternative to running if you need a cardio hit without the constant impact of running.  Spin is a great adjunct for any CrossFitter who wants to improve their cardio endurance.

CrossFitters.....we challenge you to do spin at least once a week to see if you have what it takes and take your CrossFit workouts to a new level.  

What is Spin?

An aerobic exercise that gets you burning between 400 and 500 calories during a 50 minute session. You burn these calories by pedalling away on a stationary bike that allows you to vary the pedal tension by cranking a friction pad that brushes against a flywheel. Throughout the spin class the instructor will direct you to change the intensity so that you experience the simulation of in the seat and out of the seat hills, sprints, and even group versus group challenges. While you are slogging it out on the bike, your mind is taken away from the physical act of working out by the music that is played which helps to get you into a rhythm and beat that sees the minutes melt away.

Spin is a great metabolic workout. Not only do you find yourself feeling great during the workout but the feeling of euphoria stays with you for up to 24 hours. You will find that you sleep better, your mood is elevated, your skin looks and feels great and you are continuing to burn calories long after you have finished the workout.

Many of our Spin regulars balance the specific benefits of Spinning with our other workouts such as bootcamp so that they are getting a true cross training experience. Lots of our regulars use Spin as an alternative to outdoor work-outs when the temperatures get so crazy that we need to stay indoors.

Are you ready to try out CrossFit Aurora Spin?

If you want to try out spin for the first time then here are some pointers:

  1. Bring along some stiff soled shoes. Softer training shoes may leave your feet sore at the end of the workout.
  2. Bring two towells. One to wipe away sweat and the other to drape over your handle bars so that you do not slip
  3. Water. All of our spin bikes are equipped with water bottle cages.
  4. Arrive 5 minutes early so you can set up your bike or ask questions of the instructors. Its also great to sit on the bike and warmup to our pre-class 'mood' music.
