Shane Kokas, CSEP-CPT, NSCA-CPT, NASM-CESII was born and raised in the small town of Drayton Valley. After graduating from high school I followed up my education by enrolling in the Personal Fitness Trainer program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. During my studies in the program I was able to receive my certification to become a Corrective Exercise Specialist. Upon my completion and earning a Diploma at NAIT, I was able to become an accredited certified personal trainer through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology and internationally certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. When asked why I chose this career path I give one answer, my mother. Having to grow up around my mother who struggled with her own health issues was heart breaking but inspiring. Witnessing her battle her demons and dramatically improve her health was enlightening. I was able to see firsthand the highs and lows of health /wellness and the constant battle most have within themselves. Seeing how much of a great impact the life changes my mother made changed all aspects of her life physically, socially and psychologically. While unexpectedly losing my mother in 2010 is the reason why I carry our shared passion for health/wellness with me, wanting to help individuals who are looking to conquer any fitness goal they may have. Given my past knowledge in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and all aspects of program design/injury management I have been able to work with a diverse clientele with a wide range of goals (muscle gain, weight loss, correcting muscle imbalances/poor posture, strength). I like to focus training concepts on more functional training (everyday movements that a person may encounter in a day – no big machines), to help the client become more efficient in their daily biomechanics while also reaching any other goal(s) they may come to me with. The only limitations we have in life are the ones we place on ourselves. If we put an end to holding ourselves back, we can do anything! Contact Shane here... |
